First and foremost, a big thank you to everyone who auditioned for Once Upon a Mattress. We are excited to work with all of you this summer.

Due to the nature of this show, and the amount of people who auditioned, we have decided to call everyone back to see a little more from each of you. *Please note that this is not typical of this process and should not be expected for other productions. As a reminder, everyone who auditioned will be cast.

For callbacks, the following information is vital to your success.

• We will start promptly at 5:30 pm on Friday, June 5th. Everyone should arrive and get settled by 5:20 pm. 

• If you are called back for a singing role, you must warm up prior to arrival.

• Wardrobe: You are mostly playing Knights, Ladies, and Royalty, we want to see a hint of that at callbacks.

  • • Men - Slacks, Dress Shirt or Polo Shirt, Dress Shoes or Jazz Shoes

    • Ladies - Slacks or Full-Length Skirts, Appropriate Tops, Flats, Character Shoes,

                     or Jazz Shoes

• All - Keep your hair pulled back out of your face. No jeans, sweats, shorts, crocs, or open-toed footwear of any kind.

• Please be aware that all actors will be in the room during callbacks. This will help to keep things moving at a swift pace during our time together.

• Actors will be released throughout the evening when they are no longer needed. 

Below is a dropbox link for songs and sides. Please prepare the songs and sides for each of the characters you are called back for. Print sides and music and bring them with you. You will not be allowed to use your phone or a tablet. It would be wise for each of you to look over the original audition sides as well.  

• DO NOT ATTEMPT TO IMITATE ANY OF THE CAST ALBUMS OR ANY YOUTUBE CLIPS OF THE BROADWAY SHOW. WE ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR TAKES ON THESE CHARACTERS.

• If you are called back for multiple characters, please note that you may not read or sing for each of the characters listed.

• Pro Tip: You have access to callback materials for all characters. You may want to glance at other characters in case you are asked to read something other than what is listed.

• Do not concern yourselves with memorization. We are interested in seeing you perform, not struggling to remember lines and lyrics. You should be very familiar with the material so you can present your best work.

• Be brave. Make bold choices. There is no “easing into” callbacks. You must be ready to give it your best right away.
